In New York City the apartment building roof was my studio in the summer months. There were beautiful views of the city in every direction. Ornamental building tops, church towers, rooftop water tanks, a couple of bridges, the streets below with yellow cabs and buses and cars, countless windows with various views and all the other interesting buildings were visible from the roof. After work, almost every day, I would go up to the roof and draw or paint a view from the roof. This painting was one of those from the roof. This painting always puts me back on that roof in my memories and makes me want to re-live my first New York City experience.
