Karen and I moved to San Jose in 1980. This is the first house Karen and I lived in, after we were married in the month of August in India and in Indiana. This painting is the back yard of our first California home. This place has many memories for both of us. This back yard was a real Californian backyard, as it had an orange, an almond, a loquat, and an apricot tree. We also grew artichokes, cilantro and zucchini there. The painting depicts the almond and the apricot trees, the ornamental Holly and lily of the Nile flower plants, and the bright sunshine and blue sky. That made that yard our special outside room.
