Stanford University is one of my favorite places to visit because of the Canter Museum. I have gone to the Hoover Tower several times for the views it offers of the Bay Area, that are spectacular. As a symbol of Stanford University, Hoover Tower holds the carillon of 48 bells, whereby the largest bell is inscribed, "For Peace Alone Do I Ring." In the lobby of the Hoover Tower are exhibits presenting documents and memorabilia from the lives and careers of the 31st, U.S. president, President Hoover and his wife, Lou Henry Hoover. I also have visited his birthplace, a wooden one room modest building, in West Branch, Iowa. President Hoover and his wife, both were Stanford alumni graduating in 1895. This 285 foot tower was completed in 1941, celebrating Stanford University's 50th anniversary.
